John Robert Schirmer,
editor of the 13-year-old Nashville Leader, is buying assets of Graves Publishing from the children of Louis "Swampy" Graves, including the 138-year-old Nashville News. It will be succeeded by a singe paper, the Nashville News-Leader. Schirmer helped publisher Louie Graves create the Leader 13 years ago. They competed with papers of siblings, with Lawrence Graves publishing the News. It published twice a week in the town of 5,000 while the Leader published weekly.
