Mike Huckabee, whose failed presidential candidacy at least produced a job on the Trump campaign for his daughter, Sarah, is pleased as punch about Donald Trump’s apparent taking of the GOP nomination.
“Is Donald Trump as pro-life as me? No. Is he as solid on the marriage issue as me? No. Does his position on Israel come from a deep conviction both politically and Biblically? No,” Huckabee conceded. “But neither did Ted Cruz’s. And much to my chagrin, the voters didn’t accept my message, but his. I withheld an endorsement during the heat of the primary because it was the job of the voters to select the person they wanted more than me.”
Huck urged Republicans to unite to defeat Hillary Clinton. Who better to lead that charge than the Huckster?
I went into the race knowing Hillary better than the other 16 candidates. I left still knowing her better, but also knowing the other GOP candidates. I’m convinced that Donald Trump is our best hope of turning the tide of the insider political nonsense that has left people seething and being able to defeat Hillary.
I guess we can count on plenty of Trump-friendly commentary on Fox News, now employing the Huckster again. Fox will back the Republican nominee in any case, even Megyn Kelley.
Huckster didn’t say, but I think safe to say for him, that he’s happy to take a role in a Trump administration. Janet and the kids and grandkids would be happy to load the truck and move to that mansion in Washington for the No. 2, for example.
