A welcome note from policeone.com on a departure in Arkansas law enforcement from the growing fad of putting "In God We Trust" on patrol cars and other bits of public property.

Rather than in-your-face religiosity, the Austin police have opted for a more inclusive motto: "We the People."

“This is to reflect that as law enforcement officers, we are committed and sworn to uphold the laws of this nation and the ideals of the Constitution, without bias, prejudice, or personal opinion,” Chief James Kulesa wrote.

Kulesa told the Cabot Star-Herald while “In God We Trust” can be controversial, “there is no question with this, and it covers everybody…and it means the officers are part of the people.”
The decision drew many favorable comments on the Facebook page.
