Arkansas Business' Alexis Hosticka
was on hand for a special Pulaski Tech
Board meeting today at which University of Arkansas System President Donald Bobbitt
talked about adding Pulaski Tech, the two-year school based in North Little Rock, to the UA System.
No decisions today.
One concern: Co-existence with UALR.
"Each institution retains its unique name and traditions," Bobbitt said. "I think having an additional presence in the capital city is very significant."
Bobbitt also said that for students, convenience and proximity are very important, so having two schools near each other could be advantageous.
He seemed to say some degree of duplication would be acceptable at the undergraduate level. Pulaski Tech people seemed concerned, too, about maintaining the school's identity.
Bobbitt said collaboration on learning systems and such things as the health plan for employees would benefit Pulaski Tech.
