A federal judge in Alabama is the latest
to strike down a state law requiring abortion
providers to have a doctor on hand with hospital admission privileges. It's a gimmick to prevent women from having access to abortion.
Arkansas, you may remember, has also run afoul of a federal judge's ruling against a law aimed at outlawing medication abortions in the first weeks of pregnancy. The Arkansas legislature, in practicing medicine without a license, said a doctor who prescribed a pill must be in contact with a doctor with hospital admitting privileges. The list of far more dangerous procedures for which no such requirement exists is far too long to give here.
