Another chance to plug one of my favorite do-good causes — Tree Streets:

The third Monday in March is Arkansas Arbor Day. Two nonprofits, Tree Streets Inc. and the Central High Neighborhood Inc., will celebrate by planting the 100th tree in a project begun this year to add hardwood trees along streets in the Central High School neighborhood.

"What better tangible way of showing a long term commitment to our historic neighborhood than planting 100 trees that will live for a 100 years," said Vanessa McKuin, president of Central High Neighborhood, Inc. "Tree Streets has been planting trees in Little Rock's downtown neighborhoods since 1997, but never has our board come across such an energetic and dedicated neighborhood - it was a natural to team-up with CHNI to plant this year's trees around Central High," said John Baker, president of Tree Streets.

Tree Streets volunteers and neighborhood members will be planting trees near and around the intersection of 17th & Park Streets from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
Tree Streets has planted more than 1,300 trees since its founding in 1997. Check their website or Facebook page.
