I couldn’t help but notice this week that at least two Arkansas members of Congress — Sen. John Boozman and Rep. French Hill of Little Rock — used social media to boast of receiving an award from the Family Research Council, presented by Tony Perkins.

The FRC is an ultraright fundamentalist organization that has been branded a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its defamation of LGBT people. It’s where Josh Duggar worked as a political operator until sexual molestation and lap dancer escapades became topics associated with his name.

Perkins, the FRC leader, has his own sordid political history, the SPLC says. More here on the company Perkins keeps. He purchased the mailing list of KKK leader David Duke for a  Louisiana political campaign and got fined for trying to hide the fact. His past speech-making includes an appearance before a Louisiana white supremacist organization said to view blacks as a “retrograde” form of humanity, the SPLC notes.

In some places, a 100 percent rating by Perkins and his group wouldn’t be something to brag about.
