The measure would have raised taxes by a fourth of a penny. If you spent $100 on something, you'd pay an extra 25 cents to make Rock Region Metro a better bus service, with more frequent service; shuttles to Maumelle, Jacksonville and Sherwood; and crosstown routes in North Little Rock.
Many low-income people in Pulaski County rely on public transportation to get to work. But voters were unwilling to chip in the extra fourth of a penny to make their lives easier.
Americans For Prosperity offered the following comment:
The voters of Pulaski County sent an overwhelming message tonight that they are taxed enough already. Instead of doubling the budget for public transit, voters want to keep taxes low and focus on the core functions of government like roads, education, and public safety.
