The Public Policy Panel is calling on the State Board of Education to reject the expansion of LISA Academy and eStem charter schools in Little Rock.

"Removing thousands of students from the Little Rock School District (LRSD) will threaten LRSD’s ability to provide the high quality education that our children and community deserve," the group said in a petition letter (the Panel is attempting to gather online signatures for the letter).

It goes on to argue:

These proposed charter school expansions will reduce the LRSD student population by thousands and cause the closure of numerous LRSD schools. Expanding charters that are far more segregated by race, income and need than LRSD will further divide our community.

Since our founding in 1963, the Arkansas Public Policy Panel has worked to desegregate our schools and to make sure EVERY student has a high quality opportunity to learn. Please join us in saying NO to separate and unequal again. Join us in standing up for a high quality public education system that represents our full community and meets the needs of ALL children.
