Here’s a scary cross-tab from the Public Policy Polling poll of South Carolina primary voters I mentioned earlier today. Among the GOP primary voters surveyed, 30 percent wish the South had won the Civil War, with another 34 percent not sure (36 percent are glad the North won). Trump supporters led the way on wishing the South had won (38 percent), with Ted Cruz not far behind (35 percent).

Meanwhile, 54 percent of GOP primary voters think the Confederate flag should hang at the state Capitol — 70 percent of Trump supporters and 62 percent of Cruz supporters.

Finally, 10 percent of Republican primary voters in South Carolina believe that whites are a superior race (another 11 percent aren’t sure). Among Donald Trump supporters, 16 percent believe whites are a superior race and 14 percent aren’t sure.
