Early voting starts today

This year's presidential primaries hold a lot of suspense and are likely to engender a decent turnout at the polls. You can avoid the March 1 primary crowds by voting now, at the following places and times:

Pulaski County Regional Building (across the street from City Hall), 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays today through Feb. 27; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 29.

Sue Cowan Williams Library, 1800 S. Chester St. (Chester and Wright Avenue); Dee Brown Library, 6325 Baseline Road, Roosevelt Thompson Library, 38 Rahling Circle, William F. Laman Library, 2801 Orange St., Sidney S. McMath Library, 2100 John Barrow Road, Jacksonville Community Center, 5 Municipal Drive; Jess Odom Community Center, 1100 Edgewood Road, Maumelle; Jack Evans Senior Center, 2301 Thornhill Drive, Sherwood, all 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, today through Feb. 27.

There is no Sunday early voting.

Familiarize yourself with the candidates here. This is not a reproduction of the Pulaski County ballot, but includes all candidates, including those who have dropped out: Republicans Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Gov. Chris Christie, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee and Rand Paul, and Democrat Martin J. O'Malley.

Other names you'll see are Democratic presidential candidates John Wolfe of Tennessee, who is apparently only on the Arkansas ballot this year, and Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente of California. According to Wikipedia, De La Fuente got 95 votes in New Hampshire, finishing in 8th place.
