Yesterday, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge once again rejected a proposed ballot initiative from Mary Berry of Summit for a constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana in Arkansas. Rutledge said that the language was too ambiguous. It was the fifth time she has rejected the proposal in the last five months. She has also rejected other proposed ballot initiatives focused on medical marijuana. Advocates for reforms of the state's marijuana laws argue that Rutledge is motivated by politics

Three other marijuana petitions, covering both pure legalization and medical marijuana only, are already circulating. All were approved for the ballot in 2014, before Rutledge took office.
