Erica Suskie, a substitute teacher at Catholic High School for Boys, has turned herself in on a warrant issued by the North Little Rock Police Department for her arrest for sexual assault in the first degree, according to KATV.
In October, KATV reported that Catholic High reported an alleged inappropriate relationship between a student and a substitute teacher to the state child abuse hotline.
Suskie is married to Paul Suskie, the former* chairman of the Arkansas Public Service Commission. Previously, he was city attorney of North Little Rock. He lost a narrow runoff contest with Dustin McDaniel to be the Democratic nominee for attorney general in 2006.
UPDATE: Erica Suskie pleaded not guilty to the charges.
*A previous caption mistakenly said the photo was taken at the Pulaski County Courthouse and indicated Paul Suskie was the current chairman of the APSC.
CLARIFICATION: Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Jegley says that the charge did not originate from anything happening at Catholic High. The student is the son of a family friend known to Suskie outside of school.
