Iran has released U.S. sailors without any harm. An investigation will now ensue into circumstances of the stopping of two small patrol craft. It seems to have been precipitated by a Navy vessel entering Iranian waters, perhaps because of a mechanical problem.

The prompt resolution of the situation was in contrast to past incidents

I doubt this will diminish the saber-rattling Republican members of Congress — led as usual by hawk Sen. Tom Cotton — who rose quickly to depict this as an illustration of a weak president being abused by the ayatollah.

Cotton grabbed air time all over last night and has a stint on "Morning Joe" this morning and I wouldn't expect him to praise Secretary of State John Kerry for a quick and uneventful resolution of the event. Does anybody really doubt Cotton is campaigning for a spot on the Republican presidential ticket?
