No one won last night's grand prize in the Powerball lottery
drawing and the pot for Wednesday's drawing on new ticket purchases now stands at $1.3 billion, or a lump sum payment for a single winner of $806 million.
I suspect that number will rise substantially as ticket buyers rush to squander money on the exceedingly small odds (1 in 290 million) of winning.
But it's good news for the Arkansas Lottery.
About half the proceeds of sales wind up in the lottery's scholarship fund. It sold better than $5 million in tickets on this drawing on Friday and Saturday.
