Tech glitch at UALR holds up payroll

A glitch in the system that direct deposits pay to University of Arkansas at Little Rock employees meant that checks weren't deposited last night as expected, but UALR says employees who bank at Arvest Bank will get a deposit today and those who bank elsewhere will get their deposit tomorrow.

Judy Williams, a spokesman for the university, said employees who wish to be paid sooner than tomorrow may go to the payroll office to get a hand check. If the delay has caused their accounts to be penalized for insufficient funds, UALR will cover the penalty. UALR banks at Arvest, which is why account holders there should receive their pay today.

Williams said she's worked at UALR for nine years and a glitch of this sort has never happened. Too bad it had to happen right before Christmas, she added.
