Two Hot Springs men were killed about 1:40 a.m. in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 70 about six miles east of Hot Springs, State Police said.

They were Ezekiel Blanton, 37, and Christopher Carney, 35, son of Hot Springs Mayor Ruth Carney. Blanton was driving and Carney was a passenger. The car was westbound, toward Hot Springs.

We wrote about Carney in 2011.  The cover story by Leslie Peacock told of Carney's treatment in a Christian drug rehabilitation program and his return to work as a probation officer in Hot Springs municipal court. He'd been a singer in the rock band Prom Kings. Later in 2011, he married Tiffany Thornton, an actress known for roles on the Disney Channel who became a morning radio show host in Hot Springs.

A report on Arkansas911news from the crash site said the scene indicated the driver lost control of the car in a curve.
