Former state Sen. Paul Bookout
has asked for a delay in his scheduled Nov. 23 federal court sentencing on campaign fraud for further accounting of restitution owed.
Bookout pleaded guilty to converting campaign funds in several unopposed elections to personal expenses. A federal investigation arrived at a difference in the formula for amounts owed to be repaid to contributors in 2010 and 2012 than a figure his own accountant had determined in an earlier state investigation of 2012 expenses. He said he the figures were similar, but he needed more time to clarify the differences. The U.S. attorney's office does not object to a delay, a motion from his attorney said.
