Filing for county offices finished yesterday, too, and I guess the big news was the re-election filing by the Faulkner County clerk, Republican Margaret Darter, charged with a crime for backdating county officials’ ethics reports.
I checked Pulaski County filings this morning. Here’s the upshot:
* One countywide race: Democratic Sheriff Doc Holladay drew a Libertarian opponent, Patrick Mulligan.
* The Quorum Court will remain Democratic majority, with eight Democratic JPs unopposed and five Republicans unopposed.
Contested races: District 3 JP Kathy Lewison drew a Republican opponent, Lynn Jacuzzi, as she always does. Her lime green signs will be back. Republican Andrew Norwood is challenging incumbent Democrat JP Teresa Coney in District 7. District 5 Democratic incumbent Lillie McMullen has a Democratic challenger, Jason Smedley.
Everybody else got off without opposition, from County Judge Barry Hyde on down to the constables.
