Give it up for Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys aren't doing so hot this year, but the Dallas City Council? They're winners.

David Goins, who left Fox 16 for a bigger station in Dallas, is still on my Twitter feed so I keep up with his reporting down there. Today, the Dallas Council:

* Required a $10.37/hour minimum wage for city contractors.

* Unanimously approved the addition of gender identity protection language to its city charter.

This is on top of growing support, including on the City Council, for tearing up a freeway in the name of a more livable city. They'd replace a big chunk of concrete with a park to united currently divided neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, back in Arkansas, the chamber of commerce decrees more concrete, lower pay and scant resistance to state legislation to require discrimination against gay and transgender people. Hey, regressive attitudes have done pretty well for us so far, haven't they?
