Micro Plastics, a Flippin-based concern said to be the largest manufacturer of threaded nylon fasteners in the world, said today it would add a new factory in Melbourne that will employ 79 over five years.

The company, which came to Arkansas 40 years ago, now employs almost 400 in Flippin, where plastic injection molding machines make nylon hardware. It will invest $2.4 million in the new plant.

The Arkansas Department of Economic Development said the state would provide a $200,000 grant for equipment, give the company an income tax credit based on new jobs and sales tax refunds on building materials and equipment.
