Ever butt-dialed 911? False alarm from panic button in West Fork

KNWA reports on the lockdown Tuesday of West Fork schools after the child of a teacher accidentally punched the panic button on her mobile phone.

The episode was useful, though stressful until the truth was known. The staff learned that the particular panic button app being used on the phone required two steps to notify both faculty and police of an emergency. Only the faculty was notified in this case.

It was the second false alarm in an Arkansas school this month.

David Koon wrote for us earlier about the Rave panic button app, its use mandated by the 2015 Arkansas legislature. It doesn't come cheap.
