The Arkansas Republican Party has announced that Robert Griffin, the Independence County judge, has jumped from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.

I'd say an early signal of this development was his recent engineering of restoration of a Confederate flag on a flagpole on the courthouse lawn, a move that enjoys full Quorum Court support.

He will seek a fourth term as a Republican,.

The party issued a news release quoting a variety of public officials as saying Griffin moved to a party that better represents Arkansas "values."

Cue "Dixie."
