AT THE SUMMIT: Crowd to hear governor on children's issues.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson
announced today that he'd ask to use $1 million in rainy day money to beef up the Department of Human Services with 40 more caseworkers for the Division of Children and Family Services.
The announcement came as Hutchinson met with religious groups about enlisting aid to deal with the state's shortcomings in meeting needs of foster children. Brian Chilson was on hand for the remarks and we hope to have more later.
This is yet another use of surplus money for continuing operational needs. The governor best hope the Obamacare money keeps flowing.
