Juvenile justice: A gap in coverage

Speaking of juvenile matters:

Earlier this week, Gov. Asa Hutchinson named members of yet another task force, on Youth Justice Reform.

Hutchinson's staff work was sloppy. The initial news release had to be reissued to correct at least six errors relating to hometowns and jobs of those he named to work with the Division of Youth Services.

But a job title was not the shortcoming noted by a lawyer who labors in the Delta.

Of the 21 appointees, there was one from East of Little Rock. Not only do we not have the resources, nor the facilities, to help these kids, we don't have a seat at the table, apparently.

Little Rock residents predominated. Northwest Arkansas could easily complain that they were overlooked as well, with no appointees from that part of the state. The Delta had one, from Crittenden County.

Little Rock is represented by 9 people, Sherwood by two and Conway by three.
