Some early morning helicopter activity drew my attention yesterday as a pair of Arkansas Children's Hospital
hovered over the ridge line where I live. It apparently signaled the arrival of new equipment for its Angel One medical air service
, though they haven't been formally unveiled yet.
Anybody catch any photos of the pair? Interesting sight.
Sikorsky announced in 2013
that the hospital had signed a contract to purchase two S-76D helicopters to replace S-76 helicopters in service at Children's since 2002. The price was reported at $28 million by Arkansas Business earlier.
UPDATE: Ask and it shall be given. I put note on social media for photos of the helicopters. I was directed to the city of North Little Rock's Facebook page. It had the picture above and this explanation:
The loud roar you heard yesterday morning was three of the four Arkansas Children's Hospital's helicopters. They were flying in formation for some public relations shots. The two bottom helicopters are brand new, and they wanted to show them off for the camera. The older two helicopters are to be retired.
Then Brian Chilson caught one of the new birds at the hospital this morning.
