Firearm violence in the USA continues to be a major public health concern. There is little question that the high prevalence of gun ownership in the USA contributes to the burden of firearm- related injury.
The authors conclude that prevalence of gun culture — such as a social life with family and friends including use of guns — is associated with gun ownership rates. Among other footnotes: The higher a state's gun ownership rate, the higher its gun fatality rate.
