The Senator Rapert report

We mentioned a bodacious crack by Sen. Jason Rapert on Facebook yesterday in which the Bully of Bigelow declaimed on minority rights (in the context of one of his extend perorations about how his view of the Bible and Constitution should guide civil law and the legal behavior of Arkansas citizens, U.S. Supreme Court be damned.)

The crack hit Rapert where he lives — on social media.

The Arkansas Times Facebook post alone had been viewed this morning by almost 240,000, been shared almost 1,200 times and drawn 278 comments, virtually none of them kind.

It appears that Rapert stayed up most of the night defending himself and also excoriating the Arkansas Times for quoting him directly without providing all the context he'd desire. Life is too short for me, but his Twitter account and his Facebook page can give you all the Rapert context you can stomach.

Just yesterday, Rapert had boasted about the amount of Facebook traffic his page had received. He didn't delve into the Rapert Train Wreck Factor. A Facebook post about his latest broadside is inevitably good for a boost in our traffic. Those amused and/or horrified by the senator heavily populate his own comment threads, too, one explanation for his vast audience.

Anyway, thanks Jason. My response to him on his complaint that we'd been unfair in posting a screenshot of his own words:

Res ipsa loquitur.
