Aplomado falcon stolen from falconer

Karen Rowe, the non-game biologist for the state Game and Fish Commission, has posted on the University of Arkansas's birder listserv that an Aplomado falcon is missing from its mews west of state Hwy. 107 and north of the Jacksonville-Cato Road. The Aplomado falcon is an endangered species; it was captive-bred by falconer Jim Biggs.

Rowe asks if you see the falcon — which resembles the peregrine falcon — to call Biggs at 501-944-6326. The falcon is wearing a backpack transmitter with an inactive battery. There is a reward for information leading to its recovery. The bird has not yet imprinted and so is fairly wild.
