KATV reports t
hat Brandon Sharp
was fired Monday afternoon after four years as state budget administrator
, a $101,000-a-year job in the Department of Finance and Administration.
Top officials confirmed the firing but decline to give a reason.
This may be strictly coincidental, but I did note in a Democrat-Gazette article this morning
an explanation from Sharp that explained how the state Ethics Commission could be looking at a budget cut next year rather than an increased appropriation approved by the legislature. Sharp noted that nearly all government agencies saw a funding reduction to support Gov. Asa Hutchinson's income tax cuts. The subject came up at a Friday meeting of the Ethics Commission. Surely telling the truth about numbers isn't the cause of this action.
