An officer with the Pulaski County Regional Detention Center was arrested on Saturday for, investigators say, bringing prohibited items into the jail.

Demon A. Tate of Sherwood, who has worked at the PCRDC since 2011, was arrested on five counts, including two counts of furnishing prohibited articles, and two counts of possession of narcotics. All those counts are felonies. Tate was also arrested on one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the narrative attached to the Sheriff's Office report on Tate's arrest:

Deputy Tate was arrested on a warrant for furnishing prohibited article. Subsequently an unattended pill box containing 22 pills [and] a large metal fork was found in the bag containing the pills. A spray bottle labeled "blunt affects" and an unlabeled water bottle with a yellow liquid believed to be an unauthorized cleaning chemical was found in the deputy's backpack. Numerous plastic baggies were located with the pills and in the backpack.

As of four hours ago, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said that Tate was still in the Pulaski County Jail. His name isn't on the jail roster as of this afternoon, however.
