Gov. Asa Hutchinson has cut taxes — for everyone except people who earn less than $21,000 a year. He's reauthorized Obamacare. He's working on prison problems. He's provided at least a small amount of additonal money for most state operations, including public schools.
But ...... still nothing on pre-K education, which hasn't had an increase in years despite its importance in getting kids ready to achieve in school. The Citizens First Congress is urging its members and others to call the governor and ask for a $16 million increase for pre-K. He could get that amount and more from an as-yet unspent $21 milion award in a class action lawsuit that the attorney general's office will receive. By law, it can keep only $1 million of it.
