FUNDING CONTINUES: Amtrak funding was continued by the House this week, though Little Rock's congressman, French HIll, initially voted for an amendment to end passenger rail subsidies.
correspondent in Washington with an interest in transportation issues provides a report on House action this week on funding for Amtrak,
the national passenger rail service that includes the Eagle route crossing Arkansas.
On Wednesday before passing an Amtrak reauthorization bill, House members voted on an amendment sponsored by Rep. McClintock (R-CA) that would have ended operating subsidies to Amtrak. The Arkansas delegation’s vote was a bit unexpected (at least by me).
Rick Crawford: Not voting
French Hill: Yes
Steve Womack: No
Bruce Westerman: Yes
But, after voting to end Amtrak funding, French Hill and Bruce Westerman voted for Amtrak funding on final passage. Womack also voted for final passage. Crawford didnt vote.
To quote the correspondent, "Go figure."
