Rep. Charlie Collins'
bill to force Arkansas colleges and universities
to allow staff members to carry concealed weapons on campus
passed the House today 66-25. It was amended to allow colleges to add some additional training for pistol packers — a course for dealing with "active shooters." But this is not required and the guns must be permitted in any case.
Collins tried to pass this in 2013 but was forced to amend the bill to allow colleges to choose if they wanted weapons or not. Not one did.
The bill goes first to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where opposition is expected.
