Doing the Huck-a-buck with Mike Huckabee UPDATE

BBC assesses Mike Huckabee's presidential candidacy, with a focus on activities that have prompted conservative commentators to question how serious he is about running.

He's skipping the CPAC cattle show this year, preferring to visit religious broadcasters instead. BBC notes his $1.25 million gross haul on a guided tour of Israel, about which he just "nuts," says one Washington Post writer. And then there's the tour for his latest "book." These things, say BBC:

could play into a perception from some that he is more concerned with generating income and attention than mounting a serious campaign.

Mike Huckabee concerned with material things? Again. Say it ain't so.

UPDATE: Speaking of Mike Huckabee, the Human Rights Campaign today released a research report on Huckabee's stands on equality issues. Not good. It will be compiling such reports on all GOP candidates and eventually posted here. Said HRC:

On Marriage Equality: Huckabee opposes marriage equality and has suggested judges who rule in favor of it should be impeached.

On LGBT Discrimination: Huckabee has argued against local ordinances that would protect LGBT Americans from discrimination.

On Conversion Therapy: Huckabee has supported dangerous “conversion therapy” that coerces minors into ‘treatment’ that can lead to depression and suicide.

Harmful Rhetoric: In opposing Huckabee marriage equality, Huckabee said in 2010, “We can get into the ick factor, but the fact is two men in a relationship, two women in a relationship, biologically, that doesn’t work the same.”

Adoption: Huckabee opposed allowing gay and transgender Americans to adopt children, because “children aren’t puppies.”
