At the legislature: So far, no rules change

The Joint Rules, previously approved by the Senate, cleared a House committee today and head to the floor.

Inside baseball, but the rules had been held up because of an idea among corporate lobbyists and their legislative enablers to end the joint rule that requires a two-thirds vote by both chambers to extract a proposed constitutional amendment from the joint committee established to recommend three constitutional amendments. The corporate lobby is pushing again for an amendment to make it harder to sue for damages in civil court.

Democrats, and some traditionalists Republicans, so far seem to hold the belief that upending rules to achieve a singular objective might not be good politics. For now anyway.
