With Monday a state holiday to begin with, today was always going to be slower than normal. But the ice has closed even the skeleton offices that were planned to be staffed for a brief session of the General Assembly.

The slate of Big Swill activities was light today on account of the holiday. Only these on the schedule (will roads clear in time for some evening activities?)'

PIZZA AND DEVOTIONAL: 6 p.m., Capitol basement, Capitol Commission, a private group that promotes religion in government.

COCKTAILS: 5-7 p.m., Capitol Square Apartments, #4, Choo-Choo Room. (This is the floating cocktail party backed by lobbies for

Arkansas Automobile Dealers Association
Arkansas Hospital Association
Arkansas Medical Society
Arkansas Pharmacists Association
Arkansas Podiatric Medical Association
Arkansas State Dental Association
Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas
Pfizer, Inc.
Arkansas Community Colleges

Remember: These are "scheduled activities" of the Arkansas legislature. This is the ruse by which lobbyists are continuing to provide free food and drinks despite Amendment 94's ban of such freebies. Meetings of the legislature are open to the public by constitutional dictate. So drop on by and say howdy and watch some sausage being made — and maybe eaten.

My street isn't looking too promising at the moment. The Clinton National Airport reports 22 flight cancellations so far today — all Southwest flights for example — though it said a couple of American Airlines flights this morning were still scheduled to take off.
