With Monday a state holiday to begin with, today was always going to be slower than normal. But the ice has closed even the skeleton offices that were planned to be staffed for a brief session of the General Assembly.

Remember: These are “scheduled activities” of the Arkansas legislature. This is the ruse by which lobbyists are continuing to provide free food and drinks despite Amendment 94’s ban of such freebies. Meetings of the legislature are open to the public by constitutional dictate. So drop on by and say howdy and watch some sausage being made — and maybe eaten.

My street isn’t looking too promising at the moment. The Clinton National Airport reports 22 flight cancellations so far today — all Southwest flights for example — though it said a couple of American Airlines flights this morning were still scheduled to take off.
