The police have charge Jeramye Morgan Hobbs, 24, with capital murder in the slaying of Frank Steinsiek. He was found fatally wounded on a parking lot in the 1900 block of W. 65th Street Wednesday afternoon. He was believed shot by someone he’d met about a Yamaha motorcycle Steinsiek had listed for sale on Craigslist. The motorcycle was seen being driven away on a trailer behind a white truck.

A photo of the stolen motorcycle was circulated on media. The police said Hobbs contacted detectives Thursday night to say he’d bought a motorcycle like the one being sought. Then, said Lt. Sidney Allen, “Due to inconsistent statements, detectives changed their course of questioning and determined that Hobbs was in fact involved in the homicide.”

Hobbs is believed to have acted alone. The stolen motorcycle was recovered.
