The Senate voted 34-0 today to abolish the Lottery Commission
and put appointments under the power of the governor, with the agency becoming part of the Department of Finance and Administration.
Sen. Jimmy Hickey
, who's pressed this effort, undoubtedly has plans for future operation with help of a British outfit that has already done some consulting for the legislature at his invitation.
Revenue has declined at the lottery and, with that decline, lottery scholarships have declined in value.
The bill goes to the House.
