Arkansas man in landmark federal case over Social Security benefits for same-sex spouse

Interesting report from KUAF's Jacqueline Froelich on a federal lawsuit in Illinois that challenges as unconstitutional the Arkansas ban on recognition of same-sex marriages legally entered in other states.

A Rogers man, who moved to Chicago after the death of his husband, has been fighting for Social Security benefits for four years as surviving spouse. He's been denied on account of lack of recognition of his California marriage in Arkansas. Similar cases pend around the country. Like many, they could all be solved by a U.S. Supreme Court ruling for marriage equality in June.
