, the biggest holdout, may be moving toward an Arkansas-style adoption
of the Obamacare-financed Medicaid expansion.
Incoming Gov. Greg Abbott
has told Texas legislators that he's interested in the Medicaid expansion undertaken in Utah,
modeled along the lines of Arkansas's so-called private option expansion.
The big question: Will Arkansas stick with Obamacare in 2015? Incoming Gov. Asa Hutchinson still hasn't declared his support.
I wrote yesterday
that it would be irresponsible for Asa Hutchinson
to pass his whopping income tax cut without assuring passage of private option continuation and its big federal contribution first. I doubt he'll listen to my advice. But at a minimum, Democrats should demand he at least express his support for the private option before he's given an income tax cut that the state can't afford without the private option money.
