Artinfo quotes sources as saying Alice Walton was the buyer of an Isamu Noguchi table sold at auction this week for $4.5 million.
The table, made in 1939 for A. Conger Goodyear and most recently owned by Ronald Lauder, was auctioned Tuesday at Phillips in New York. The article doesn’t say if the table is destined for the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, which Walton, an heir to Walmart billions, founded. The museum has a Noguchi item in its collection, a lit wall piece called Lunar Landscape.
