Discount Swedish meatballs and maddening-to-build cheap furniture will be as close as Germantown, Tenn., come the fall of 2016, IKEA announced today.

Previously, Little Rock residents had to drive about 4.5 hours to Dallas for Ikea stuff. The Memphis store, the Swedish company's 40th in the U.S., will be next to a Costco, about 145 miles from central Little Rock. Details in Memphis Business Journal.

(It's a slow day. I finally got tweetpeded by other media into joining the Scandinavian frenzy. On the whole, I'd rather watch "Lilyhammer," the Netflix series about a mobster (Steve Van Zandt) in witness protection in Norway, than shop at IKEA. Great cameo on the opening episode of Season 3 by Gary US Bonds, still rocking at 75.)
