Here's an open line and video headlines. Also:

* GARTH BROOKS MEETING THE PRESS: Garth Brooks met the press today in advance of three shows at Verizon Arena. He said it was the first time here in 23 years and so will play to fans unborn his last time in town. He noted his mom was born in Marshall, Ark., and told a story about her records being lost in a courthouse fire. Actually, there was no fire. He learned after her death that the courthouse existed, along with records that showed her mother was older than her husband, a fact she'd tried to keep under wraps.

Brooks is on his World Tour with Trisha Yearwood. I believe tickets are all taken.

Publicity-hungry Sen. Jason Rapert horned in on the event to give Brooks a citation and preen for the camera.

Twitter lit up with crack about Rapert showing up for a Brooks event, given that Rapert is a foe of gay marriage and generally homphobic in his public commentary. Brooks has won awards for his inclusiveness and support for gay people, particularly for a song in which he sang:

"'Cause we shall be free / When we're free to love anyone we choose"

Sen. Rapert doesn't hold with that notion. His Bible tells him otherwise.
