Boxer Jermain Taylor appeared before Circuit Judge Leon Johnson today to plead not guilty to battery and terroristic threatening charges in the Aug. 26 shooting of his cousin at his home. The case was set for a jury trial at 9:30 a.m. June 23-24, with a pre-trial hearing May 29.

Deputies responded to a disturbance at Taylor's home near Maumelle. Tyrone Hinton was found later at a store nearby with gunshot wounds and Taylor was charged. The judge has allowed Taylor to leave the state to train for fights.

Among other action in the case, Taylor's attorneys have filed a motion to suppress any statements he gave to deputies that day.
