Too late for last night's concert, but the Little Rock police announced the recovery today of a trailer full of Little Rock Wind Symphony
instruments stolen earlier this week from the parking lot at Second Presbyterian Church
Lt. Sidney Allen reported:
The trailer containing more than $50,000 of Arkansas Wind Symphony Orchestra equipment was recovered by he Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. An inventory of the items is being conducted but it appears that many, if not all, of the items are in the trailer.
More information is promised.
The trailer was packed with percussion instruments, music stands and other gear for Thursday night's Christmas concert. A surveillance video showed thieves using bolt cutters to free the trailer and then hauling it away. Police speculated the trailer, not the instruments inside, was the target.
UPDATE: A report from the sheriff's office said the trailer was found parked in the road about 7 a.m. today at Sandstone Drive and Grant Lane, which is off Hilaro Springs Road south of Little Rock. The license plate had been removed. It still had the symphony logo on the side and the deputy saw instruments when he opened the trailer.
