The state Education Department today reported
the annual results on Arkansas schools meeting profiency standards as measured by test scores.
The department chose to emphasize the postive — 67 schools that had sufficiently improved to meet targets for all groups of students (poor, minority, etc.). But some 877 schools remain in the needs improvement category, with 37 "priority" schools (those in the lowest achieving group, and 85 "focus" schools, among the lowest 10 percent.
