State revenue increases in October over last year

State tax revenue jumped up in key categories in October, possibly a hopeful budget sign for what have been bleak revenue reports this fiscal year.

Gross revenue in October was up 4.5 percent from the same month last year and 2.2 percent above forecast. Categories that have run below forecast in the first three months of the year — sales tax and corporate income tax — were above forecast in October.

Still gross revenue for the first four months of the year of just under $2 billion is a tiny $2.2 million, or .1 percent, above forecast.

Here's the October 2014 report.
