Many have remarked on the brutal attack ad during the Razorback game last night by Elbert Guillory
and his Free at Last PAC.
Guillory is a Republican-turned Democrat-turned Republican who serves in the Louisiana Senate and is a darling of conservatives for his attacks on Democrats. As the Washington Post reports,
he hasn't brought many black voters with him.
He's taped such ads — paid by a PAC funded by a variety of conservative believers — against Kay Hagan
in North Carolina, Mary Landrieu
in Louisiana and now Mark Pryor
in Arkansas. Guillory says blacks are tools of "limousine liberals." Could be he's a tool of limousine conservatives like Rush Limbaugh,
along with Fox News' Neil Cavuto, is among his admirers.
Four times divorced and backer of a Louisiana law meant to put religion in science classrooms (he talked of a good experience with a faith healer), Guillory has a colorful history.
A Louisiana outlet reported on the Free at Last PAC's roots
. A white conservative Family Forum activist was the driving force.
Open Secrets gives the financial numbers.
The PAC in the latest cycle hasn't spent a dime advancing the cause of black Republicans, claimed as a goal at its founding. It has spent every dime to defeat white Democrats who enjoy strong black support
