U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor doesn’t intend to get left behind on the Ebola panic. From his office:
U.S. Senator Mark Pryor will join Dr. Nathaniel Smith, Director of the Arkansas Department of Health and UAMS leaders to discuss state and national preparedness for Ebola. Pryor will further detail specific comprehensive measures that need to be taken at the federal level to protect U.S. citizens from Ebola.
Sen. Pryor and Dr. Smith will be joined Friday, October 17 at 1:30 p.m. by UAMS Medical Center CEO, Dr. Roxane Townsend, State Epidemiologist, Dr. Dirk Haselow and UAMS Infectious Disease specialist, Dr. Keyur Vyas.
“We need to work together as a state and nation to protect the spread of this deadly disease,” Pryor said. “This is not a time to play politics. We need a comprehensive strategy because a piece-meal approach is not enough.”
WHAT: Press Conference on Ebola Preparedness
WHEN: Friday, October 17 at 1:30 p.m.
Not that it will matter much in a state where a junior high football game got canceled because of an unfounded rumor of an Ebola case and where a church mission trip to a place in Africa that has not had an Ebola case has been scrapped in the panic, but here’s an article that talks about why travel bans are not a good idea, and perhaps even make the problem worse. (Whatever you do, don’t go to Dallas, where Ebola case reports have multiplied exponentially.)
